Museum Educators of Puget Sound (MEPS) is composed of educators from the region's many cultural, arts, historical, zoological, and scientific institutions. Our mission is to share the educational resources of our institutions with each other and the community.
MEPS Statement on Racial Violence and Discrimination:
Museum Educators of Puget Sound stands alongside those protesting systemic violence towards Black people across the country. As an organization of museum professionals, MEPS acknowledges the violent history of museums. Museums are not neutral and neither are museum educators. To quote from the NYC Museum Educators Roundtable:
“To best serve our communities, we must engage with anti-racist practices personally and professionally. While many museums remain closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, our work as educators never stops.”
